Second that... lot of close-minded people here... being here for less than a year and definetively very dissapointed with the kids (sorry adults...) and morons putting oppinions here in tt.net. :My FMIC works excellent, but it is very different in design to many out there, especially in it's unconventional appearance (vertical slats, not horizontal). I must agree that the Apollo is not very well thought out, but it does't mean that all FMIC's perform subpar to SMIC's.
:With proper ducting for other componants/accessories it is very efficient over all. The FMIC/radiator arguement means nothing if design is well thought out. I run a fully closed coolant system with an overflow reserve tank. I have yet to have an overheating issue even under harsh driving/racing conditions. Yes, I have a substantially sized Howe radiator and stock fan with NO SHROUD. I was going to make a sheet metal shroud, but decided to ditch the VG...so no point now and besides, it didn't seem to need one since the size of the Howe put it very close to the stock fan.
:As far as the FMIC itself, the issues of air cfm etc. all get thrown on the table. I used two spearco cores to design my FMIC along with their end tanks. There are so many discussions about core width, size, shape, etc. Yes, some designs are superior to others and some look better than others...but by really how much? Some are worth merit, others are clearly not. Most people that argue this have never tried to build their own intercoolers and many never installed them. Yes, that doesn't mean everyone, so don't get your panties in a bunch and shoot off. Those people know who they are.
:Some people may have noticed that I hadn't posted for ages. I was, to be honest, sick of the closed minded people lurking these forums. I have seen a new influx of new members and don't wish for them to be subjected to only one frame of mind..in fact I do value the input of those who don't share my opinion. I just don't go about my remarks with the same "wit" they try to put into their well thought out responses. I am here as the anti-christ, the thorn in the rose stem, the pothole in your freshly paved stock appearing Z. Haha, yes..I am here to help people. I think I have a fair amount of Z32 knowledge and would hate for it to go to waste while some new enthusiest sweats over something trivial to many of us. He shouldn't have to..and no one can perfectly work a less than perfect search function. Cheers.
